Electrostatic Powder Coating :

Powder coatings were produced & utilized in the United States at the first fifty decades for the first time. These powders consist of compounds such as resins, pigments, additives and fillers. Powder coatings are sprayed on the required surfaces by an electrostatic gun. The powder is charged in the gun and creates a thin and sticky layer on the substrate surface. Then the coated parts enter to an oven. During baking in the oven, the powders melt by heat and the coating chemically reacts to make long molecular chains, resulting in high cross-link density which creates a tough and indissoluble coating. Powder Coatings are applied completely dry spraying directly on the surface.  Powder coatings are compatible with the environment because they don’t require solvent and are economical to be used. They can be recycled and reused many times.

Powder coatings advantages

 A . Human hygiene & environment :

1- Non-toxic & lack of heavy metal such as lead, cadmium.

2- Lack of solvent resulted in lack of harmful vapors.

3- Lack of solvent resulted in decreasing respiratory diseases and pulmonary infections

4- High safely comparing with liquid paints regarding fire danger

B . Saving time & energy:

1- Easy control & usage and ready to be used without professional instruction to the painting personnel.

2- Saving time and increasing production speed resulting in decreasing energy consumption.

3- Because of the recycling capabilities, it is possible 95% of powder coatings to be used.

Powder coatings high chemical & physical resistance comparing with liquid paintings causes to increase coated component's life.
